Business
Gates Industrial Corporation plc (NYSE: GTES) manufactures highly engineered power transmission and fluid power products for diverse industrial, automotive, and consumer applications worldwide. The company offers belts, hoses, hydraulics, and related components including synchronous belts, V-belts, timing belts, sprockets, pulleys, tensioners, water pumps, and hydraulic systems; these serve segments such as diversified industrial, energy and resources, infrastructure and agriculture, automotive replacement, personal mobility, automotive OEM, industrial off-highway, and industrial on-highway. Gates operates in more than 130 countries across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Greater China, East Asia and India, with sales and manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East; it employs over 15,000 people and maintains more than 100 locations in 30 countries. Founded in 1911 by Charles Gates and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the company traces its origins to the invention of the V-belt in 1917 and the synchronous belt in 1946, evolving from a family-owned tire business into a global leader in mission-critical components with natural replacement cycles. Nearly two-thirds of sales derive from replacement channels to distributors and aftermarket customers, with the balance from original equipment manufacturers. In recent developments, Gates launches new products for data centers including electric pumps and liquid cooling hoses, secures design wins with hyperscalers, EMS suppliers, and infrastructure providers for multi-million-dollar revenues starting in 2026, and expands in personal mobility with offerings for e-mountain bikes and e-bikes targeting over $300 million in revenues by 2028. The company announces a new $300 million share repurchase authorization through December 2026, raises full-year 2025 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $780 million, and reports Q3 2025 results with core sales growth, double-digit EPS increases, and $100 million in debt reduction. These initiatives underscore strengthened positions in high-growth areas like data center cooling and electric mobility amid constructive replacement market dynamics.
